Job Description
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the precision parts industry, is seeking a skilled Tooling Specialist to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in maintaining the high standards of quality and efficiency in their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which specializes in utilizing molds to create intricate parts. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in tool and die making, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for innovation in manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the entire lifecycle of molds and tooling, from design to fabrication, maintenance, and repair.
- Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot and solve tooling issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of molds and tooling equipment to uphold quality standards.
- Implement continuous improvement practices to enhance tooling efficiency and reduce waste.
- Coordinate with external vendors for tooling procurement and oversee the quality of outsourced molds.
- Maintain accurate records of tooling inventory, maintenance schedules, and procurement data.
- Assist in the training and development of junior staff in tooling best practices and safety protocols.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in tool and die making, preferably in a manufacturing environment utilizing molds.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and quality control principles.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and familiarity with CNC machining operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across different departments.
Preferences:
- Certification or degree in mechanical engineering, tool and die making, or a related field.
- Experience with plastic injection molding is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma.
- Proactive attitude towards health and safety practices.
- Ability to innovate and bring forward new ideas to improve tooling processes and efficiency.
