Job Description

Our client, a leader in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Rubber Mold Tooling Specialist to join their team. This pivotal role focuses on overseeing all mold-related activities from the initial Request for Quotation (RFQ) through the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and beyond, into the production phase. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing tooling standardization and performance, ensuring the seamless integration of molds with both process and product designs, and contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing operations.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the lifecycle of tools from RFQ through PPAP, including support for prototype tooling.
  • Lead efforts to reduce scrap and enhance the efficiency of mold tooling operations.
  • Monitor tool location and timelines during the launch phase, maintaining meticulous records.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date mold specifications, CAD data, drawings, and spare parts lists.
  • Spearhead the design, costing, timing, and follow-up on new tooling and check fixtures.
  • Evaluate and specify all tooling requirements, recommending new equipment or outsourcing strategies to improve quality, capacity, and cost.
  • Identify and mitigate internal or external risks regarding quality, cost, timing, product definition, and process.
  • Provide installation, start-up support, and ongoing support throughout the part lifecycle.
  • Manage tool obsolescence and disposition, including tool transfers and commodity moves.
  • Offer training and support to the maintenance team on tooling issues.
  • Lead program planning, ensuring timely execution of required actions.
  • Serve as a liaison with manufacturing engineering and industrialization teams.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Must have 3+ years experience working with rubber mold as a Tooling Engineer.
  • Proven ability to perform essential duties with high precision and professionalism.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of communicating effectively across various departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient computer skills, with extensive knowledge of mold design and injection processes.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control, Value Stream Mapping, financial analysis, value creation, and basic problem-solving tools in a manufacturing environment.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; with a minimum of five years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ideal candidates will bring 10 years of experience in managing and troubleshooting molds, mold making, check fixture experience, and purchasing.
  • Additionally, 10 years of engineering and product development experience is highly desirable.
