Are you an experienced tax professional looking for meaningful seasonal work without the demands of a large public accounting firm? Our client, a well-established public accounting firm serving small businesses and individual taxpayers throughout West Michigan, is seeking a Seasonal Tax Accountant / Tax Professional to help support growing client demand during tax season.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced tax preparers, CPAs, Enrolled Agents, public accounting professionals, or semi-retired tax experts who enjoy working directly with clients and preparing tax returns for closely held businesses and individuals. The firm offers a collaborative, family-oriented environment where your expertise is valued, and you'll have direct visibility with clients and firm leadership.

Responsibilities
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and small businesses
- Work with S-Corporations, Partnerships, Schedule C businesses, and individual taxpayers
- Review client financial information and supporting documentation
- Conduct client interviews and gather information necessary for tax return preparation
- Assist with tax planning and tax-saving strategies
- Provide bookkeeping support and account reconciliations as needed
- Prepare financial statements for clients
- Assist with payroll-related services when necessary
- Serve as a trusted advisor and point of contact for assigned clients
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding tax matters and filing requirements
- Support a variety of client accounting and consulting needs throughout tax season
Qualifications
- Previous tax preparation experience required
- Experience preparing tax returns for small businesses and individuals
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations
- Strong client communication and relationship-building skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA, EA, or equivalent tax experience welcomed
- 2+ years of public accounting tax experience
- Experience with bookkeeping and financial statement preparation
- QuickBooks experience
- Ability to step into client work with minimal supervision
- Experience managing client relationships directly
