Job Description
Our client, a growing and well-established accounting and tax practice, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their in-office team based in Grand Rapids, MI. This role offers flexibility in hours and structure - whether you're looking for full-time or part-time work - and includes paid overtime during tax season.
Full-Time or Part-Time | Flexible Schedule
(For full-time, typical hours are 40hrs/week, 45-50 during tax season).
This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives in a small, supportive environment and enjoys meaningful, hands-on work. You'll play a critical role in preparing accurate financials that support tax and advisory services for a wide range of small business clients. The team is collaborative, with strong mentorship and clear expectations.

What You'll Do:
- Prepare and finalize accounting records to ensure clean, tax-ready books
- Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements for small business clients
- Support tax return preparation (individual, partnership, and S corporation returns)
- Collaborate closely with the firm owner and internal team to meet deadlines and quality standards
- Gain exposure to tax work and receive hands-on training where needed
What You Bring:
- 4 + years of bookkeeping experience, including general ledger, journal entries and reconciliations
- Generate basic financial reports
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to work onsite in Grand Rapids, MI
Preferred (But Not Required):
- Familiarity with QuickBooks
- Experience in a small CPA or accounting firm
- Exposure to tax preparation (1040s, partnerships, S corps, etc.)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
