Senior HR Manager - Manufacturing Operations
Grand Rapids, MI


Our client is seeking an experienced Senior HR Manager to lead human resources initiatives, for our West Michigan manufacturing facility. This is a critical role for a proactive HR leader who excels in labor relations, employee engagement, and strategic HR management. The ideal candidate will drive HR initiatives that support business goals while fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Labor & Employee Relations - Act as the primary liaison for labor relations, managing union negotiations, resolving conflicts, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • HR Strategy & Leadership - Design and implement HR initiatives that align with company goals, supporting workforce development and organizational growth.
  • Talent Development & Acquisition - Oversee recruitment, training, performance management, and succession planning to build and maintain a strong workforce.
  • Compensation & Benefits Management - Administer competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent while ensuring compliance.
  • HR Policies & Compliance - Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures in accordance with employment laws and industry regulations.
  • Organizational Development & Change Management - Lead change management efforts, helping employees and leadership navigate transitions effectively.
  • HR Data & Metrics - Leverage HR systems and data analytics to track workforce trends, improve decision-making, and enhance HR effectiveness.
  • Team Leadership & Coaching - Mentor and support HR staff, fostering a high-performance culture within the department.


Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or HR certification preferred).
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role preferred.
  • Labor Relations Expertise: Proven ability to manage union relations, collective bargaining, and conflict resolution.
  • HR Compliance & Employment Law Knowledge: Strong understanding of labor laws, workplace regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Leadership & Communication Skills: Ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Change & Organizational Development Experience: Track record of successfully leading change initiatives and workforce development programs.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and data analysis.
