Job Description

Our Client, a Public Utility that provides natural gas and electricity to the majority of Michigan's 10 million residents is seeking a talented and self-driven individual for needs serving in the role of Sr. Fire Protection Engineer

 

The Senior Fire Protection Engineer role involves ensuring fire safety in buildings through design and implementation of fire safety systems, assessment and upgrades of existing systems, and collaboration with various stakeholders. This is a contract position estimated to last 12 months, possible extension, possible temp to perm. Apply Now!

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop fire prevention strategies and overhaul building codes or fire safety regulations.
  • Design fire protection systems for new and existing buildings, ensuring compliance with local codes.
  • Review architectural plans for feasibility of fire protection systems.
  • Conduct site visits for assessing needs for system upgrades or modifications.
  • Investigate post-fire scenes to determine cause and origin.
  • Recommend updates to fire protection systems as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain fire protection standards, educate sites on these standards.

Job Requirements

Skills

  • Knowledge of FERC safety requirements and regulations.
  • Proficient in project risk communication.
  • Advanced problem-solving and safety analysis capabilities.
  • Effective in developing and analyzing safety/risk reports.
  • strong communication skills for presentations to senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
  • Proficient in computer use for reporting and data analysis.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of fire protection analysis and fire dynamics.


Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Master's preferred.
  • With 4-7 years of experience.
  • Professional Engineer License and Certified Fire Protection Engineer credentials are preferred.
