Software Development Manager
 Location: Sarasota Office or Remote for Out of State
 Salary Range: $110k-$130k
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Software Development Manager to lead a team of talented developers, both internal and external. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the full spectrum of software development activities—from architecture and design to implementation and maintenance—of critical applications that support daily operations. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader with a deep technical background and a passion for driving innovation within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of software developers, providing direction, technical management, and career development support.
  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, development, integration, testing, implementation, and maintenance of key applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Manage both on-premises and remote development teams to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, design patterns, and best practices for software development.
  • Architect and develop complex software systems, ensuring a strong understanding of all application layers.
  • Utilize advanced problem-solving and analytical skills to address technical challenges and optimize software performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement processes within the development team, including the adoption of modern web development technologies.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in information technology, technical applications, or information systems.
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams, processes, and tools within a software development environment.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with programming languages such as Java, ASP.NET, C#.NET, or similar technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including systems design, programming techniques, databases, and servers.
  • Proven track record in architecting and delivering large, complex software solutions.
  • Advanced understanding of modern web development technologies and frameworks, including .NET Visual Studio, JavaScript, CSS, JQuery, SSIS, SSRS, SQL Server.
  • Experience with design patterns, code structure, continuous integration, object-oriented development, and MVC frameworks.
  • Familiarity with web integration technologies, including HTTP, SOAP, JSON, XML, RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS, and the latest developments in cloud technologies.
  • Strong technical skills in application configuration, scripting, and relational database concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, configure, and conduct unit tests for software products.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of an agile development team.
  • Flexible and enthusiastic with a strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Property and Casualty Insurance experience.
  • Experience with Guidewire's InsuranceSuite products.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as NUnit, JUnit, Gunit.
  • Certification in Guidewire Configuration.
