Set up Technician
Job Description
Shift Availability:
- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
- 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Our client, a leader in manufacturing in the Newaygo MI area is looking for a Set-up Tech to support production operations by performing equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth manufacturing processes, quality assurance, and safety compliance. If you have strong mechanical aptitude and a background in manufacturing or equipment setup, this opportunity is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Change molds, dies, or fixtures in accordance with established procedures, including minor tool repair and insert changes.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on molds and related fixtures.
- Conduct startup and shutdown procedures for molding machines and ensure all subsystems (water, dryers, heaters, robots, etc.) are operational.
- Troubleshoot and adjust processes as needed, escalating issues when necessary.
- Perform material handling tasks such as mold installation and removal.
- Maintain adhesives storage and FIFO processes while managing tank and primer levels.
- Follow safety and hazardous waste handling protocols, including lockout procedures.
- Perform quality inspections of parts post-changeover to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, disposing of fluids and materials properly.
- Operate an overhead crane for equipment setup and handling.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of equipment setup experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and adjust equipment.
- Knowledge of materials and process standards, with the ability to interpret blueprints/schematics.
- Basic math and reading skills, including fractions, decimals, and geometry.
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Hi-lo (forklift) license or the ability to obtain one.
- Familiarity with computers and job-related documentation such as control sheets and quality requirements.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with hydraulic pumps, gauges, heaters, and robotic systems.
- Knowledge of adhesives storage and chemical handling procedures.
- Experience with preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.

Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
