Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Product Development Engineer to join their dynamic growing team in the Greater Grand Rapids metropolitan area. Our client values innovation and empowers its employees to think outside the box if this sounds like you, we want to talk to you!
In this role the Senior Product Design Engineer is responsible for the creation of technical and detailed design drawings using CAD software for new product designs, strong focus on building relationships and mentoring engineers.
- Solid understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to include life cycle testing.
- Experience with and overseeing projects, budgets, and vendors.
- Ability to grow relationships with Suppliers, Marketing, Customer Service, and Program Managers.
- Collaborate with Designers and Marketing to achieve new product goals.
- Create and translate Solid Works Models and drawings into complete ERP setup for new products.
- Create extensions and enhancements to existing product lines.
- Experience with cost savings.
- Ability to perform hand calculations, and FEA with multiple parts.
- Review existing patents.
- Process ECNs as needed.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 7-10 years' experience in product design, preferably in furniture or automotive.
- Proven track record in product launch.
- Program Management experience.
- Solid understanding of FEA, including life cycle testing.
- Proficient in Solid Works, Auto Cad, and Corel Draw (preferred).
- 2D stack-ups knowledge and a proven working knowledge of GD & T.
- Run Design of experiments and do Root Cause analysis, then offer suggestions for improvement.
