Sales & Customer Support Assistant - CNC Manufacturing
Location: Bloomingdale, GA
Our client, a custom CNC machining operation supporting demanding aerospace and defense applications, is looking for a Sales & Customer Support Assistant to join its team in Bloomingdale, GA. This is a great opportunity for someone who is organized, responsive, detail-oriented, and comfortable keeping customers and internal teams on the same page.
This role serves as an important link between customers, sales, and manufacturing operations. You'll assist with day-to-day customer correspondence, help prepare and follow up on quotes, enter and confirm customer orders, and provide updates as orders move through the manufacturing process.
You don't necessarily need to come from a CNC machining background to be successful in this position. Experience in manufacturing customer service, inside sales, sales support, order entry, estimating support, or account coordination can translate well. What matters most is the ability to communicate professionally, stay organized, follow through on commitments, and accurately manage customer and order information.
Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day customer correspondence via email and phone.
- Respond to customer questions and route technical or manufacturing-related inquiries to the appropriate team members.
- Help prepare customer quotes and gather the information needed to support the quoting process.
- Send completed quotes to customers and maintain accurate records of quote activity.
- Follow up on outstanding quotes and help keep sales opportunities moving forward.
- Assist with entering customer purchase orders and sales orders into the company's software system.
- Review and confirm order information for accuracy, including quantities, pricing, delivery requirements, and other applicable details.
- Send order confirmations and communicate relevant order information to customers.
- Monitor open orders and coordinate internally to obtain current production and delivery information.
- Provide customers with timely updates regarding order status, expected completion, and delivery schedules.
- Maintain organized customer, quote, and order records.
- Work closely with sales, production, quality, and other internal departments to help resolve customer questions.
- Support the sales team with general administrative and customer service responsibilities as needed.
- Help maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication and consistent follow-through.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service, sales support, inside sales, order entry, account coordination, or administrative support.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating directly with customers by email and phone.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple quotes, orders, customer requests, and follow-up activities.
- High level of attention to detail when entering and reviewing order information.
- Comfortable working with business software, order management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to follow established processes while taking ownership of customer requests.
- Strong follow-through and the ability to keep customers informed without losing track of details.
- Ability to work effectively with sales, manufacturing, quality, and operations personnel.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in a CNC machining, precision manufacturing, aerospace, defense, industrial, or similar environment.
- Experience supporting a sales team within a manufacturing company.
- Familiarity with RFQs, customer quotations, purchase orders, sales orders, and order confirmations.
- Experience using an ERP, MRP, CRM, or manufacturing order management system.
- Experience preparing or assisting with quotes for manufactured products or services.
- Familiarity with manufacturing terminology, lead times, production schedules, and delivery requirements.
- Experience working with customers in industries where accuracy, documentation, and on-time delivery are important.
- Interest in learning more about CNC machining, manufacturing processes, and technical customer requirements.
