Job Description
Our client, a global manufacturing company in the Muskegon area, is actively looking for a Quality Lab Supervisor to join their team!
The Quality Lab Supervisor, reporting directly to the Quality Manager, plays a pivotal role in leading the laboratory technicians' team. This position is crucial for managing the laboratory's quality systems, equipment, and ensuring the certification of the finished product meets the highest standards.
Essential Functions:
- Safety and 6S Initiatives: Enforce and promote workplace safety and organization through 6S initiatives.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, evaluate, and direct the laboratory technicians, ensuring high performance and adherence to standards.
- Training and Development: Develop and train employees on technical work instructions, job procedures, and compliance with training requirements.
- Time and Attendance Management: Oversee employee timekeeping, assign time codes, and manage vacation requests.
- Policy Enforcement: Ensure adherence to company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Analytical Testing: Schedule and prioritize testing of finished goods before shipment.
- Communication: Timely and professional communication of analysis results through reports, presentations, and publications.
- Equipment and Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and upgrade of laboratory equipment.
- LIMS Administration: Manage the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for efficient operation.
- Certification Management: Issue finished goods certifications and maintain laboratory accreditations.
- Process Control Plans: Utilize LIMS for the development and implementation of laboratory analysis process control plans.
- Cost Reduction: Track and support initiatives to reduce costs without compromising quality.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
Required:
- HS Diploma
- 7+years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment
- 2+years of leadership/supervisory experience
Preferred:
- A four-year degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy/Materials Science Engineering, or a related field.
