Quality Engineer
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Build Quality. Drive Continuous Improvement.
Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their manufacturing team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career quality professional who is passionate about manufacturing excellence, process improvement, and delivering high-quality products. In this role, you'll work cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams to strengthen quality systems, solve complex manufacturing challenges, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

Responsibilities
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Partner with production and quality leadership to resolve manufacturing quality issues and prevent future occurrences.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support Quality Inspectors and Quality Specialists to ensure products and processes meet internal and customer quality requirements.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction activities.
- Develop and deliver quality-related training to increase quality awareness throughout the organization.
- Plan, conduct, and document internal quality audits, including follow-up on corrective actions and audit findings.
- Create, maintain, and update quality documentation, including:
- Process Flow Documentation
- PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
- Control Plans
- Quality Work Instructions
- Quality Manuals
- Assist with PPAP documentation and production quality planning activities.
- Support receiving and outgoing quality processes to ensure product conformity.
- Prepare quality metrics, reports, and documentation for leadership review.
- Utilize statistical analysis tools to evaluate process performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate across departments to improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Approximately 1+ year of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of quality engineering tools and methodologies, including:
- PFMEA
- Control Plans
- PPAP
- Root Cause Analysis
- Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and manufacturing processes.

Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
