Job Description
Quality Assurance Inspector - CNC Machining
Location: Bloomingdale, GA
Our client, a custom CNC machining operation supporting demanding aerospace and defense applications, is looking for a Quality Assurance Inspector to join its quality team in Bloomingdale, GA. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working with precision-machined components, engineering drawings, inspection equipment, and detailed quality documentation.
In this role, you'll help ensure machined parts meet customer requirements and engineering specifications before they leave the shop. The position combines dimensional inspection, First Article Inspection (FAI), CMM inspection, blueprint and specification review, and CAD drawing work. You'll work closely with manufacturing and quality personnel to identify issues, verify requirements, and maintain the level of accuracy expected in aerospace and defense manufacturing.
This could be a strong fit for an experienced Quality Inspector or Quality Technician, as well as someone with a CNC machining or manufacturing background who has developed solid inspection and blueprint-reading skills and wants to grow further within quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections of precision CNC-machined components.
- Inspect parts using hand measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.
- Perform and support inspections using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
- Assist with preparing, completing, reviewing, and submitting First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation to customers.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, tolerances, specifications, and related technical documentation.
- Review customer and engineering requirements to verify manufactured parts meet applicable specifications.
- Document inspection results accurately and maintain organized quality records.
- Identify dimensional or specification discrepancies and communicate findings to the appropriate manufacturing and quality personnel.
- Create and revise blueprints and technical drawings using CAD software.
- Work with CNC machining and manufacturing personnel to address quality concerns and support continuous improvement.
- Help maintain consistent inspection practices and quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Experience in quality assurance, quality inspection, precision machining, CNC manufacturing, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Hands-on experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and similar inspection tools.
- Experience performing dimensional inspections of manufactured or machined components.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately document inspection results.
- Comfortable reviewing technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Basic proficiency with computers and electronic documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with quality, engineering, and manufacturing personnel.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within an aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated precision manufacturing environment.
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation and submission.
- Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
- Experience operating or programming a CMM.
- Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with CAD software and creating or modifying technical drawings.
- Previous experience inspecting CNC-machined components with tight tolerances.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and controlled manufacturing documentation.
Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
Permanent placed employees
