Job Description
An iMPact Business Group client in the Material Handling industry is seek an experienced Project Engineer for Material Handling systems.
*** Please Note: This is a contract-to-hire role and only Candidates who can be hired with no Visa sponsorship requirements will be considered ***
This role will participate in pre-sales / post-sales Project Engineering support, managing project requirements from concept through execution, ensuring accuracy, quality, and alignment for warehouse automation solutions.
This role is based at the Corporate HQ in New Jersey and will also involve approximately 35% travel to Customer locations. This firm also has facilities in Plano, TX and will consider Candidates located there.
This role is for someone with strong team collaboration skills, a focus on providing top notch customer service, and a passion for designing and implementing material handling solutions that involve modern technologies integrated with a variety of robotic, conveyor, and other material handling hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor Engineering activities
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, QA/QC standards, and specifications
- Interact directly with Customers to understand needs and provide technical support
- Coordinate and manage system integration, including controls and software teams
- Own and support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) / Site Acceptance Test (SAT) -- test planning, execution, and documentation
- Manage technical escalations and cross-team coordination during deployments
- Support post-go-live issues and field engineering adjustments
- Interface with vendors and internal Engineering teams
- Review and sign off on Engineering deliverables and change requests
- Mentor junior Engineers and assist with team knowledge development
Job Requirements
* BS in Engineering or relevant technical discipline
* Experience in the Material Handling Systems industry (Warehouse Automation)
* Experience as a Project Engineer in automation, software, mechanical, or electrical fields
* Experience with PLCs, control systems, and system commissioning
* Familiarity with test planning, validation, and risk mitigation frameworks
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering design platforms
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office and project tracking tools
* Familiarity with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and system-level interface diagrams
* Strong project management and leadership skills
* Time management and organizational effectiveness
* Willingness to travel up to 35% to Customer locations
* Familiarity with test planning, validation, and risk mitigation frameworks
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering design platforms
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office and project tracking tools
* Familiarity with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and system-level interface diagrams
* Strong project management and leadership skills
