Job Description
An iMPact Business Group manufacturing industry client is seeking to hire a full-time Progress Database Administrator (DBA).
This is an onsite role in Grand Rapids, MI.
*** Please note: this role does not allow for Visa Sponsorship at this time ***
This role is to focus on the daily operation of a Progress database environment including Administration, Backup, Troubleshooting, Performance Tuning, and partnering with various Development teams related to Database Design and optimization.
Duties:
- Routine Progress DBA support functions to provide Progress database continuity, availability, integrity, recovery, and security
- PowerShell Scripting and other shell scripting for database administration and monitoring
- Knowledge of Progress 4GL queries is considered a plus
- Maintaining high-volume tables
- Progress database definition, maintenance, and support in a large production environment
- Database Administration for Production, Development, and QA environments
- Database design, architecture, and physical implementation
- Manage and monitor database backups and data growth
- Database Performance Tuning
- Security Administration in both the OS / Progress environments
- Provide guidance to Application Development staff for query, stored procedures, functions, and database design.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in information systems or equivalent experience
- Progress OpenEdge 11.x/12.x support experience (Production Support, Development Support)
- Operational knowledge of database backups, exporting data, loading data
- Experience with scripting languages including T-SQL and PowerShell
- Query and index tuning experience
- Relational database -- security design concepts, reporting systems, and data modeling
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, and workload planning skills
- OE Replication is a plus
- PASOE and Pro2SQL experience a plus
