Job Description

Our client, a family-owned Midwestern grocery/retailer that strives to better the lives of people in all communities is in need of a Product Owner for their Market Format and Operations team.

Preferred hybrid (M-W in office; Th-F remote), but will consider remote. Candidates submitted within the six-state footprint will be considered for permanent hire (where applicable). 6 states are MI, OH, IN, KY, IL, and WI.

The Market Format and Operations Teams are looking for a Product Owner (PO) for an upcoming project.  The project is to assist with the implementation of existing technology from our Supercenters, into our Market Format Stores.  The first areas of focus will be ordering, receiving, and inventory management systems.  

We will look for this individual to learn and become the subject matter expert (SME) for multiple systems, help develop IT requirements, assist with process/gap analysis, and other tasks that will lead to a successful implementation. 

Responsible for overall technology advancements and development for their role's defined area of focus (e.g.: Market Format and Big box stores). This Product Owner will work very closely with various ITS teams to define, develop, and launch new digital features and capabilities. This Product Owner is also a key leader within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).  Individuals in this role must live and breathe all things digital, and have the aptitude for both technical and business requirements. 

Additional responsibilities include -
  • Lead meetings 
  • Roadmap creation
  • Defining, grooming, and planning the work
  • Coordination with existing POs and TPO's across Merchandising, Store Team Member Tools, and EDAA (on the IT and Business side)
  • This PO will report to an individual on the Business Side 

Job Requirements

Ideally local to Grand Rapids, or at the very least, close to another Market Format Store (Lansing, Detroit area) as they will benefit from store and Market Format visits

- Leader and decision maker for assigned agile team(s) within the SAFe framework
- Sees projects from start to finish, including a detailed breakdown of features at the beginning, through measuring success post-rollout
- Conveys the vision and goals to their team for each new feature prioritized
- Creates, owns, and is measured against their agile team's objectives for each 10-week program increment
- Maintains and prioritizes their team's backlog during the sprint planning process
- Attends all regularly scheduled meetings as part of the SAFe framework, including sprint planning, sprint demos, system demos, retrospectives, and program increment planning events
- Communicates status and progress externally

Education: Bachelor's degree required
Experience:
5+ years of previous retail systems experience preferred.
