Job Description

Our manufacturing client in the Montague, MI area is seeking a strong Operations Manager that specializes in lean manufacturing.

This will involve:

  • Directing the executing of manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity in order to deliver quality parts per customer delivery schedules.
  • Controlling manufacturing costs via efficient utilization of equipment, facility, and employees.
  • Utilizing Lean Management tools, pursue and manage the development and improvement of manufacturing methods and processes to enhance profit and minimize investment and costs.
  • Overseeing manufacturing operations to minimize costs while maintaining or improving product quality.
  • Participates in the definition, development, and implementation of systems to aid and assist in materials management and production/inventory control.
  • Manage the maintenance operations utilizing the Maintenance Manager to set priorities for maintenance activities.
  • Manage and schedule work of the Operations department and assign projects; assure timely completion of projects.
  • Constantly survey plant, designs, and processes for potential cost savings and manufacturing improvements.
  • Provide staff with adequate resources to perform their work to a standard of excellence.
  • Training and development of department staff to provide depth and flexibility of personnel while preparing for further professional growth.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety rules, and good housekeeping standards.
  • Perform other duties and meet responsibilities associated with the supervisory position, i.e., establish an environment in which employees are motivated to higher performance levels, review performance and evaluate employees, operate within the company's guidelines for Equal Employment Opportunity.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a technical field or business management degree (or equivalent in training and experience) with at least 10 years experience in manufacturing and engineering functions, preferably in a high volume automotive environment.
