Job Description
Our client, a well-established industrial manufacturer in the Grand Rapids area, is looking for a Plant Controller to lead financial operations for their manufacturing plant. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role with a direct line to the President and an opportunity to shape the financial direction of the business.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in manufacturing accounting and is ready to step into a position of high visibility and impact. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a lean environment, understands the complexities of production finance, and is comfortable working closely with executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all plant-level financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and more
- Manage cash flow and implement effective cost control and financial planning strategies
- Produce accurate and timely financial statements and operational reports
- Lead improvements in systems, processes, and internal financial controls
- Provide leadership on inventory accounting, cost of materials, and operational finance
- Partner with senior leadership to drive performance insights and business planning
- Supervise and develop a small finance team (currently one direct report)
- Ensure full compliance with GAAP and other applicable financial standards
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 10+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- At least 8+ years in a plant controller or similar financial leadership role
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, operational finance, and inventory control
- Experience supporting or leading global procurement and supply chain financials
