Payroll Manager (13-Week Assignment with Extension Potential) - Onsite | Sarasota, FL
Our client is seeking a seasoned Payroll Manager to take the helm of payroll operations during a pivotal systems transition. This is a hands-on, high-impact contract role based onsite in Sarasota, Florida. You'll be responsible for overseeing payroll processing and compliance, with an emphasis on UKG payroll software and multi-state tax expertise. This assignment will play a critical part in stabilizing payroll operations while the organization transitions to a new Workday HR/Payroll system.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week opportunity (Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM), with occasional flexibility required beyond business hours. While weekend work is rare, availability during peak processing periods may be necessary. The work setting is strictly in-office and business casual attire is expected.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end payroll processing using the UKG payroll platform for a multistate workforce.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for payroll during the Workday system implementation, providing continuity and expertise.
- Prepare and file payroll tax documents, including W-2s and multistate filings.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and audits to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure data integrity and payroll readiness.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information and manage secure payroll records.
- Support year-end processes and reporting, including compliance audits and documentation.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of proven experience in payroll management or related financial roles.
- Deep knowledge of payroll tax regulations, multistate processing, and federal compliance standards.
- Proficiency in UKG payroll systems is required.
- Experience with Workday or other HRIS/payroll systems is strongly preferred.
- Solid track record in preparing audit-ready payroll reports and reconciliations.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
