Paint Process Engineer

Job Description

- Support process and maintenance activities consistent with departmental expectations and goals.
- Operate paint process and application equipment in accordance with established control plans.
- Identify, communicate and document any issues relating to the product, process and/or quality system.
- Initiate, recommend, and implement solutions utilizing error-proofing techniques to prevent the occurrence/re-occurrence of non-conformance.
- Develop, implement, verify and document parameter settings for all paint process and application equipment.
- Verify and calibrate paint process and application equipment as directed in the total productive maintenance plan to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of the painting process.
- Implement monitoring, control and/or logging systems with the PLC Software Technician and other designated members.
- Track, record and prepare management reports detailing process capability and trend analyses of key parameters.
- Participate in the development of robotic path motions and operating parameters for the introduction of new products and the continuous improvement of existing programs to optimize transfer efficiency.
- Communicate and cooperate with paint suppliers on usage optimization, formulation compatibility, paint performance and quality issues.
- Work with equipment suppliers to accurately collect application and performance data on new technology tested in the painting process.
- Communicate and cooperate with cleaning suppliers to test new processes and products to ensure optimization of system performance.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement teams.
- Train personnel in the operation of process equipment and procedures in accordance to the established control plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Paint Manager.
Job Requirements
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is highly desired.
- 5+ years experience as a Paint Process Engineer
- Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.
- Previous automotive finishing and robotic (Fanuc) experience required.
- Experience with industrial control, computer technology and programming (Solidworks) is desirable.
- Must be computer literate on the Windows platform.
- Must pass Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Point Hue Test Annually
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 Quality System
- Knowledge of control plan and PFEMA Additional Information
Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
Permanent placed employees
Paid by and qualify for benefits in accordance with the policies of the hiring company.
