Paint Process Engineer
Job Description
Our client, a prominent manufacturing company in the Lansing, MI area, is on the lookout for a highly skilled and experienced Paint Process Engineer to join their team on a direct hire basis. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and continual improvement of paint processes, contributing significantly to the quality and efficiency of production. As a Paint Process Engineer, you will be at the heart of the manufacturing operation, combining technical expertise with a keen eye for detail to enhance product quality, optimize processes, and ensure a safe and healthful workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in team activities, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Employ problem-solving skills to drive continuous improvement within the workplace.
- Adhere to and uphold all company policies and safety standards.
- Support process and maintenance operations to meet departmental objectives.
- Operate and manage paint process and application equipment following established guidelines.
- Identify, communicate, and document product, process, or quality system issues.
- Initiate and implement error-proofing solutions to prevent non-conformance issues.
- Develop and document optimal parameter settings for paint application equipment.
- Conduct verification and calibration of paint process equipment to ensure precision.
- Collaborate with PLC Software Technicians to implement monitoring and control systems.
- Analyze process capabilities, tracking trends and preparing detailed management reports.
- Participate in the development of robotic path motions for new and existing products.
- Coordinate with paint and cleaning suppliers to optimize materials and processes.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and teams.
- Train staff on proper operation of process equipment according to control plans.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Paint Manager.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Paint Process Engineer role.
- Experience in automotive finishing and robotic operations, particularly with Fanuc robots.
- Proficiency in industrial control, computer technology, and programming (e.g., Solidworks).
- Strong computer literacy, especially within the Windows environment.
- Ability to pass the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Point Hue Test annually.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 Quality System, control plan, and PFEMA.

Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
