Actuary
 Location: On-site in Sarasota, FL
Our client is seeking a seasoned Actuary to join their Sarasota-based team and play a pivotal role in shaping insurance offerings across multiple states and product lines. This is a high-impact position for a skilled professional with deep actuarial knowledge and a sharp analytical mindset. You'll be central to evaluating risk, supporting rate filings, collaborating with auditors and external consultants, and conducting complex reserve and rate analyses. Responsibilities:
  • Conduct actuarial analyses, including rate reviews, reserve studies, and other risk-based assessments across multiple insurance product lines.
  • Prepare and support insurance rate filings and provide clear, timely responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Partner with accounting, external actuaries, consultants, and auditors to ensure accurate financial and actuarial reporting.
  • Access and manipulate large datasets to support actuarial functions and strategic planning.
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects, often coordinating with teams without direct reporting lines.
  • Manage multiple priorities with clarity and professionalism in a dynamic insurance landscape.
  • Deliver high-level presentations and insights to internal and external stakeholders.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Risk Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of actuarial experience, preferably within homeowners or commercial lines insurance.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with data and programming in an insurance environment.
  • Skilled in SQL, MySQL, Oracle, or similar database languages.
  • Proficient in R, Python, VBA, or comparable programming languages.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently while contributing meaningfully to team efforts.
  • Solid project management capabilities, including leading cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
  • ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society) certification highly preferred.
  • FCAS (Fellowship of the Casualty Actuarial Society) progression or intent to pursue is a strong plus.
