Job Description
Our client is seeking a proactive and grounded Health & Safety Supervisor to lead safety initiatives across two manufacturing plants in the Holland, Michigan area. This is a pivotal role for someone with a deep understanding of workplace safety who thrives in a hands-on environment and is ready to drive change from within the operation.
This position is focused strictly on Health & Safety-not environmental-allowing you to specialize in ergonomics, regulatory compliance, injury prevention, and workforce engagement.
The role offers future leadership opportunity, including the chance to hire and develop an H&S Administrator once you're established. While prior leadership experience isn't required, the ability to guide and influence others is key.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety programs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards through audits, inspections, and training
- Conduct incident investigations and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Champion ergonomics and workplace wellness initiatives
- Collaborate with HR, operations, and front-line teams to embed safety into daily operations
- Provide regular safety training and communication to all levels of the organization
- Support sustainability goals tied to workplace safety and employee well-being
- Participate in budgeting and planning for safety-related resources
- Hire and mentor an H&S Administrator to support ongoing initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing setting
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Ergonomics background or experience with ergonomic assessments
- Familiarity with corporate safety tracking systems and safety audits
- Previous exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments
- Leadership experience or supervisory capability is a strong plus
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related
