We have become trusted leaders in the electrical products industry manufacturing PVC-coated conduit and fittings, non-metallic enclosures, galvanized elbows, couplings, nipples, and the original Korns clamps.
 
Our client is seeking a General Manager.  This is an onsite, Direct Hire opportunity.
This position reports to a Division President.
The location is NE side of Grand Rapids, MI
Relocation is available.

Job Summary:
  • Responsible for the effective and profitable operation and growth of the company with respect to, conducting business, operations, and other related affairs, affecting the financial condition of the company and for advising and making recommendations regarding total operations. Directs and coordinates activities of the organization to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits by implementing organizational goals and policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute long-range and short-term plans consistent with overall profit and growth objectives
  • Coordinate the Company's business activities to ensure that it responds to the business climate
  • Establish and maintain functional objectives and standards of performance in key areas such as marketing, finance, manufacturing, engineering, human resources, etc.
  • Ensure the establishment of sound organizational plans, responsibilities, and operating controls
  •  Accountable for the selection, promotion, performance, and optimum utilization of key management personnel and succession planning
  • Provide advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures consistent with established policies
  • Represents the organization, as appropriate in its relationships with major customers, suppliers, competitors, commercial and investment bankers, government agencies, professional societies, etc.
  • Ensures adequacy and soundness of the organization's financial structure and, reviews projections for working capital requirements
  • Review and approve the appointment, employment, transfer, or termination of all associates
  • Resolve any conflict arising between operating groups, staff units, and other elements under immediate supervision
  •  Review regular and special reports to determine the status of performance relative to budget vs. actual
  • Participation in internal and external audits as required
  • Responsible for identification, documentation, segregation, evaluation, and disposition of non-conforming products, services, and systems
  • All department processes and procedures documented and the appropriate individual(s) trained and cross-trained as necessary

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Degree in Business Management, Marketing or Engineering
  • 15-25 Years previous experience in Plant and Operations Management
  • Proven Management and Leadership Experience
  • ISO Knowledge/ Experience
  • Proven Visionary with a Clear Understanding of the Economic Climate
  • Proficient Verbal and Written English Communication Skills
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with MRPII
Knowledge of Composite Materials
