Job Description

Overview of the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Category Manager to lead sourcing initiatives and drive value across both medical and non-medical supply categories. This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide procurement strategy, optimize supplier performance, and deliver measurable cost savings while improving service levels and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and brings a strong balance of analytical thinking, negotiation expertise, and relationship management. You'll play a key role in shaping category strategies, enhancing supplier partnerships, and contributing to a high-performing procurement function.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and execute end-to-end category strategies aligned to long-term business objectives
  • Lead strategic sourcing events including RFPs, RFQs, supplier negotiations, and contract execution
  • Design and implement preferred supplier programs to drive standardization, cost savings, and service improvements
  • Analyze spend data and supply chain trends to identify cost reduction opportunities and optimize total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define requirements, influence purchasing decisions, and improve demand planning
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, operational, and legal teams to standardize products and enhance efficiency
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Negotiate and review NDAs, contracts, and supplier agreements
  • Track KPIs, monitor category performance, and present actionable insights to leadership
  • Drive procurement best practices, operational excellence, and disciplined spend management
  • Lead and support process improvement and standardization initiatives across procurement activities

Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • 3-7 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management
  • Strong understanding of category management principles and multi-year strategy development
  • Proven ability to translate data insights into measurable business outcomes
  • Experience leading sourcing events and managing supplier negotiations and contracts
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret spend data and identify trends
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and execute from strategy through implementation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in cross-functional environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
 
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs)
  • Background in healthcare, medical supplies, or regulated industries
  • Experience driving large-scale process improvement or standardization initiatives
 
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
