Desk Adjuster-Residential P&C
Location: Orlando, FL | Full-Time
M-F 830a-530p. PERM Onsite
Our client is seeking a customer-focused and detail-driven Desk Adjuster to manage property claims from initial investigation through resolution. This role is well-suited for a claims professional who excels at balancing analytical decision-making with strong communication and negotiation skills. You'll play a vital role in delivering fair, timely claim outcomes while ensuring compliance with policy guidelines and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve residential and commercial property claims of low to moderate complexity
- Determine coverage, liability, and exposure by analyzing policy terms, conditions, exclusions, and endorsements
- Establish accurate reserves for claims and related expenses
- Communicate clearly with policyholders, agents, and third parties via phone and written correspondence
- Evaluate damages using estimates, appraisals, and replacement cost calculations
- Negotiate and finalize settlements within assigned authority limits
- Utilize cost containment strategies to manage claim expenses effectively
- Maintain detailed and timely claim documentation in compliance with internal procedures and state regulations
- Draft denial letters, Reservation of Rights letters, and other claim-related correspondence
- Identify claims requiring field inspections and coordinate referrals as needed
- Detect potential fraud indicators and refer cases to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU)
- Recognize subrogation opportunities and refer applicable claims appropriately
- Collaborate with legal counsel on litigated claims and follow established litigation strategies
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a customer-first approach throughout the claims process
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience handling residential and/or commercial property claims
- Strong knowledge of claims handling practices, coverage analysis, and policy interpretation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical thinking and sound decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to manage multiple claims and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Adjuster's License (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
- AIC (Associate in Claims) or other industry designations
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills
- Experience handling more complex or litigated claims
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of fair and timely claim resolutions
- Demonstrated customer-first mindset with empathy and professionalism
Work Environment
- Office-based or hybrid work environment depending on location
- High-volume, deadline-driven setting requiring strong organization and prioritization
- Frequent communication with internal teams, policyholders, and external partners
Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
Permanent placed employees
Paid by and qualify for benefits in accordance with the policies of the hiring company.
