Database Administrator (Oracle DBA) - 3-Month Contract (Potential Extension)
Support Critical Enterprise Database Initiatives
Our client is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team on a 3-month contract during a period of increased project activity. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on database professional who thrives in fast-paced enterprise environments and enjoys balancing operational support with infrastructure-focused project work.
In this role, you'll help ensure the stability, performance, and availability of mission-critical Oracle database environments while partnering with infrastructure and application teams on upgrades, migrations, and ongoing maintenance. This position is intended to strengthen an established team during a busy project cycle rather than serve as the owner of long-term database architecture or strategy.

Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and support Oracle databases across Development, QA, and Production environments.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades, database migrations, and enterprise technology initiatives.
- Troubleshoot database issues and resolve incidents to minimize downtime.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle database environments.
- Monitor database performance, capacity, health, and availability while identifying opportunities for optimization.
- Perform database backup, recovery, and restore activities using RMAN.
- Support database cloning, refreshes, migrations, and ongoing maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and SAP support teams to maintain reliable database operations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support documentation.
- Follow established security, change management, and operational best practices.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience.
- Strong expertise in Oracle database administration, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and database maintenance.
- Experience supporting mission-critical production database environments.
- Hands-on experience with RMAN backup and recovery.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience administering Oracle databases in Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience collaborating with infrastructure and cross-functional technical teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Oracle databases in SAP environments.
- Experience with Oracle Exadata.
- Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server.
- Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard.
- Familiarity with automation and scripting using Shell, Python, or PowerShell.
- Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure projects, upgrades, and database migration initiatives.
