Job Description

Our client, one of the leading healthcare organizations in MI, is an integrated healthcare system offering expert, award-winning care that's accessible and convenient with a personal touch. It includes a 208-bed general acute-care osteopathic teaching hospital.

Our client is looking for a Complaint/Grievances Administrator with 3 years of solid Administration experience.

This is an onsite contract opportunity located in West MI.. 
The contract is for 13 weeks with the possibility of being extended.
Equipment will be provided.

Position Summary:

  • Coordinates all aspects of the patient complaint and grievance program, including meetings, reporting, and data collection and analysis. 
  • Exercises clinical skills and expertise in performing an independent investigation of all reported patient complaints and grievances, including but not limited to obtaining relevant information from the patient, provider, and other key individuals, and providing timely updates and responses to the complainant in accordance with RM-25. 
  • Analyzes and resolves verbal and written complaints and grievances from patients, families, and visitors within federal, state, and organizational regulations, policies, and procedures. 
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts within our client to obtain benefits and/or clinical opinions/interpretations of complex cases. 
  • Collaborates with Risk Management, Legal Services, and/or Compliance Departments regarding complaints or grievances relating to legal, compliance, or public relations concerns. 
  • Gathers and analyzes data collected regarding patient complaints and grievances to identify and resolve trends, as well as for incorporation into the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Program. 
  • Maintains grievance and complaint-related HFAP evidence books for the Legal Services Department. 
  • Provide in-service training or educational presentations to personnel regarding patient satisfaction and proactive responses to identified trends, as well as relating to the grievance process, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, and related topics. 
  • Serves as a resource for front-line staff, managers, and/or directors in resolving patient concerns at the bedside in an attempt to provide timely resolution of patient concerns and minimize formal complaints and grievances. 
  • Works with and supports the Privacy and Security officer in completing investigations on alleged HIPAA violations, as requested.

Job Requirements

Experience Needed:

  • Three years of professional administrative assistant/secretary support experience. Experience in a hospital and/or healthcare setting preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Visio with desktop publishing is a plus
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes, and managing multiple projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Advanced degree of independent judgment and interpersonal skills
  • Able to deal with very sensitive issues in a tactful, positive, and confidential manner
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
