Materials Manager

Our client, a leading manufacturing company in the Newaygo MI area, is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee all aspects of inventory control, material procurement, production planning, and warehousing operations. This role ensures smooth and cost-effective supply chain operations while driving process improvements in cost, quality, and delivery. Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage departmental plans, budgets, and the master production schedule using sales forecasts, material availability, and capacity planning.
• Lead and monitor inventory levels, raw material procurement, warehousing, and shipping operations to meet production and delivery goals.
• Oversee production planning activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective product launches.
• Ensure compliance with company, customer, and Materials Department requirements while shaping future strategies based on business needs.
• Provide operational leadership, supervising and guiding a team of professional and managerial staff.
• Drive cost, quality, and delivery improvements by developing and implementing new systems and processes.
• Establish and manage inventory objectives, optimizing stock rotation while identifying and minimizing obsolete inventory.
• Lead safety, quality, and productivity initiatives, conducting workplace inspections and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and ISO14001 policies.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to make informed business decisions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional and managerial experience, including financial/budget responsibility and strategic leadership.
• 6+ years of experience in the automotive industry 
• Strong expertise in production material planning, scheduling, and Just-In-Time (JIT) concepts.
