Job Description
Our client is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee materials management, production scheduling, and inventory control to support efficient and timely manufacturing processes. This role plays a critical part in aligning supply chain functions with production demands, optimizing inventory levels, and ensuring a seamless flow of materials. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in supply chain management, procurement, and production planning.
Primary Responsibilities:
Materials Management:
- Develop and implement material planning strategies to ensure continuous production.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels, balancing cost efficiency with production needs.
- Oversee procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management.
- Collaborate with suppliers to establish reliable, cost-effective supply chains.
Production Scheduling:
- Create and maintain detailed production schedules to meet customer demand and deadlines.
- Coordinate across production, purchasing, and sales teams to align capacity and demand.
- Monitor and adjust schedules in response to changes in orders, material availability, or production constraints.
- Implement lean scheduling techniques to reduce lead times and enhance flexibility.
Inventory Control & Optimization:
- Establish and enforce inventory control procedures, including cycle counting and accuracy audits.
- Utilize ERP systems to track inventory levels, movements, and transactions.
- Analyze inventory data to identify slow-moving or obsolete stock and recommend appropriate actions.
- Optimize warehouse layout and material handling processes for efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure material specifications meet product requirements.
- Partner with sales and customer service teams to align delivery timelines with customer expectations.
- Function as the primary point of contact for material-related issues, ensuring rapid resolution of supply chain disruptions.
Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of material planners, schedulers, and inventory coordinators.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team performance and skills.
Job Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7 plus years of experience in materials management, production scheduling, or supply chain operations.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems for inventory and scheduling management.
- Proven experience in supplier management, procurement, and contract negotiations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
Permanent placed employees
Paid by and qualify for benefits in accordance with the policies of the hiring company.
