Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer.

This is a direct-hire opportunity located in West MI.

Summary:
  • Analyze, recommend, and implement process improvements by applying established operational standards.  Prepare method instructions to include tool identification, standard processing conditions, equipment specifications, operational sequences, material routings, standard time requirements, and labor efficiency.
  • Analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes from cradle to grave.
  • Own continuous improvement projects, driving measurable gains in quality, efficiency, safety, and ergonomics.
  • Support cross-functional teams with root cause analysis, CAPAs, and defect reduction (e.g., mold cracking, non-fills).
  • Develop and implement standards, training materials, and SOPs for operators and leaders.
  • Lead or assist in capital projects-from ROI justification to implementation.
  • Support environmental compliance, including hazardous material disposal and site audits.
  • Take over process auditing responsibilities, including ISO compliance and external/internal audits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct time studies and validate manufacturing standards.
  • Recommend and implement tooling and method improvements.
  • Drive corrective actions for manufacturing and customer quality issues.
  • Partner with maintenance and production to troubleshoot tooling/equipment issues.
  • Research and apply best practices, automation solutions, and ergonomic improvements.
  • Support the design for manufacturability of new products and processes.
You'll work closely with:
  • Production operators and shift supervisors
  • Maintenance and Engineering teams
  • Leadership
  • Train supervisors, lead people, and align people on improved methods
  • Research and implement improved technology
  • Help develop documented procedures for all operations
  • Ensure that safety and ergonomic considerations are built into each operation
  • Develop and manage capital projects as assigned
  • Determine and document the best methods to perform various manufacturing processes
  • Examine, recommend, implement, and document new or alternate manufacturing processes, equipment & tooling
  • Assist in the development of new products and their manufacturing methods
  • Improve safety and productivity while reducing the costs of manufacturing processes
  • Analyze production reports to determine reasons for variances
  • Observe and analyze operations, making recommendations to improve methods, tooling, and simplify operations to reduce costs of manufacturing
  • Oversight of environmental compliance and product compliance with governing standards.
  • All Department processes and procedures documented and the appropriate individual(s) trained and cross-trained as necessary- elimination of tribal wisdom
  • Knowledge of all ISO processes, procedures, flowcharts, and quality policy
  • Responsible for driving Self-Managed Performance (SMP) through self-motivation, initiative, and participation
  • Cross-training in other work centers as needed for the business
  • Responsible for identification, documentation, segregation, evaluation, and disposition of non-conforming products, services, and systems
  • All department processes and procedures documented and the appropriate individual(s) trained and cross-trained as necessary
  • Must be willing to travel as required for the needs of the business

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Bachelor's in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical experience
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing environment (assembly, molding, stamping, or tooling preferred)
  • Automation Experience
  • Working knowledge of CAD and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools
  • Strong communication skills-you're a relationship-builder, not just a problem-solver
  • High floor presence-this is an 80-90% hands-on role

Preferred:
  • Controls Engineering
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
  • Exposure to injection molding, compression molding, or press operations
  • Familiarity with ISO or other regulated quality environments
  • ERP/MRP systems knowledge

Technical Skills:
