Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Machining)
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who thrives at the intersection of engineering, production, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on opportunity to play a key role in bringing highly engineered industrial equipment from concept through production, installation, and long-term support. You'll collaborate across engineering, operations, supply chain, and service teams to develop efficient manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and support the successful launch of new equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for precision mechanical components and complete machine assemblies to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Partner with design engineering to ensure products are designed for manufacturability, assembly, and long-term serviceability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, supply chain, service, and suppliers to support project execution and on-time delivery.
- Provide hands-on manufacturing support during prototype builds, production launches, and new product introductions (NPI).
- Troubleshoot manufacturing, machining, and assembly issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Design and develop custom fixtures, tooling, and assembly aids that improve productivity, reduce setup time, and enhance repeatability.
- Support production teams with engineering guidance while driving continuous process improvements on the manufacturing floor.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including:
- Work Instructions
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Assembly documentation
- Manufacturing process documentation
- User manuals
- Operating guides
- Maintenance procedures
- Provide technical support during equipment assembly, installation, commissioning, and field service activities when needed.
- Assist service teams in resolving equipment issues and supporting field repairs.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, waste reduction, and manufacturing excellence.
- Travel occasionally to customer or supplier locations as business needs require (minimal travel).
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience within CNC machining, machine building, precision manufacturing, or similar industrial environments.
- Experience developing manufacturing processes for complex mechanical assemblies.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Ability to read, interpret, and create:
- Engineering drawings
- Assembly drawings
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Technical documentation
- Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D.
- Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting machining and assembly issues within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Understanding of CNC machining processes, including multi-axis machining.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and service teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI).
- Experience designing manufacturing fixtures, tooling, and assembly aids.
- Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, or field service activities.
- Continuous improvement experience using Lean Manufacturing or similar methodologies.
- Experience working with highly engineered industrial equipment or custom machinery.
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills.

Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
