Manufacturing Engineer - Spray Foam Process
Our client is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to own and optimize the spray foam production process, driving quality, efficiency, and innovation across operations. In this critical role, you will be the key architect in stabilizing and enhancing foam production, ensuring that processes meet rigorous quality and safety standards. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), Quality, Product Design, Maintenance, and Production, to establish standardized processes, lead continuous improvement efforts, and manage effective collaborations that improve overall manufacturing efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Quality Focus: Prioritize safety and quality assurance throughout the foam manufacturing process, ensuring uptime and stable production.
  • Process Standardization: Develop standardized processes and documentation to ensure top-tier quality, cost-effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with maintenance and vendors to implement a comprehensive maintenance plan.
  • Quality Control Partnership: Partner with the Quality team to establish robust control plans and inspections, ensuring products meet required specifications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance foam process stability and efficiency.
  • Training & Support: Train production personnel in foam manufacturing processes, troubleshooting, and equipment operation.
  • Material Characterization: Work with material suppliers to understand foam properties and their impact on production.
  • Process Optimization: Optimize and automate changeovers and conveyor sequencing for improved process flow.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and control plans. Prepare and present reports on process performance and improvements.
  • Process Monitoring: Implement SPC tools and monitor process data in real-time to drive immediate insights.
  • Process Innovation: Innovate in areas like equipment, inspection, detection, and materials for future process advancements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with design, quality, and production teams to resolve issues and maintain smooth production.
  • Operations Support: Support daily operations to ensure KPIs are met and processes remain stable.
  • Standardization: Ensure process consistency across all production lines.
  • Vendor & Contractor Liaison: Act as the primary contact for contractors regarding foam production projects and issues.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead root cause analysis for failures, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Equipment Coordination: Coordinate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams on significant equipment modifications.


Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience (5+ years in a related engineering field).
  • Experience: 3-5 years in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of process optimization, statistical analysis, and control methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
  • Problem-solving Skills: Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve process issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and technical presentation.
  • Self-Motivation: Detail-oriented, self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Hands-on Experience: Comfort in a unionized, hands-on manufacturing setting.
  • Leadership: Ability to influence and lead teams without direct authority.
