International Import Operations Specialist
Job Description
Our client, a Global Leader in the Consumer Appliance Industry has an immediate opening for a International Import Operations Specialist for a 12 Month + Contract. - Act as a liaison between vendors, steamship carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and internal functions such as deployment, production planning, distribution centers and manufacturing divisions
- Ensure timely movement, customs clearance and delivery of air and ocean imported shipments including finished goods and VMI manufacturing components
Ensure that company nominated service providers are used by suppliers for all import shipments - Track and trace shipments en route from all over the world and create reporting packages for process partners to pro-actively and effectively communicate order shipment status and final arrival estimates.
- Monitor and validate import order data and documentation for customs clearance and import
- Arrange delivery appointments and/or assist in equipment turn around scheduling.
Multi-task with various responsibilities, while being accountable for results in a fast paced environment - Coordinate expedite shipments and to follow through to delivery
- Strike a balance between meeting the service needs of process partners and reducing costs.
- Initiate action with vendors, ocean carriers, inland freight carriers, and other external service providers as well as other departments to resolve problems.
- Collect and maintain documentation related to the filing of international logistics damage claims with ocean carriers and follow until resolution.
- Audit freight and other related transportation invoices and update freight pay system as needed
- Forecast the container volume that will be used by each vendor for the future weeks of shipping activity
- Monitor email in the group email box and resolve or forward to the appropriate Import Specialist for further review.
Job Requirements
- Data analytic skills to make decisions and recommendations
- Strong Written communication and verbal communication skills
- Resourcefulness to read through emails, absorb the information. Natural desire to be inquisitive - 'I wonder why that happened'.
- BA/BS (or equivalent) a plus. Not required
- Prefer 1-2 years experience and a strong working knowledge and understanding of import operations and transportation, with emphasis on ocean shipping, documentation and receipt verification.
- Technologies - Proficiency in Google Tools and Excel (pivot tables and vlookups) are required. SAP and BW are a plus.
Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
Permanent placed employees
Paid by and qualify for benefits in accordance with the policies of the hiring company.
