Senior Network Engineer
Full-Time | Sarasota, Florida
Salary up to $125K/yr W2. Benefits available Day 1
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to play a critical role in designing, optimizing, and ensuring the long-term reliability of a complex enterprise network infrastructure. This is a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned networking professional who thrives on solving complex technical challenges while shaping the future of enterprise connectivity.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership across routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, WAN, and hybrid connectivity environments. You'll help drive architecture decisions, improve network resilience, and ensure the infrastructure remains secure, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs.
This position serves as the highest-level escalation point for complex network issues, leading deep technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis while mentoring other networking professionals. You'll collaborate closely with security, cloud, and infrastructure teams to implement robust networking solutions that support critical operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, engineering, and evolution of enterprise network architecture across LAN, WAN, data center, cloud, and remote connectivity environments.
- Translate business and application requirements into secure, scalable, and highly available network solutions.
- Serve as a technical authority for network architecture standards, best practices, and design decisions.
- Lead complex network implementations, migrations, and upgrades including routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, SD-WAN, and VPN technologies.
- Review and approve network configurations and changes performed by other network team members.
- Ensure all network solutions are properly tested, documented, and transitioned into operational support.
- Act as the highest-level escalation point for critical network incidents and performance issues.
- Conduct deep root cause analysis across network, infrastructure, and security layers and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Design and enforce secure network architectures, including segmentation, firewall policies, and secure remote access strategies.
- Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure network environments meet risk, governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze traffic patterns, utilization, and performance data to optimize network efficiency and reliability.
- Lead capacity planning and long-term network roadmap development aligned with organizational growth and cloud adoption.
- Maintain and evolve network documentation, architecture diagrams, and engineering standards.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to Network Engineers and Network Administrators.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and service providers on strategic infrastructure initiatives.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- Equivalent hands-on technical experience may be considered in place of formal education.
- 10+ years of overall IT experience, including at least 6-7 years in advanced network engineering roles.
- Strong expertise in enterprise networking technologies and architecture.
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching
- TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- DNS, DHCP, VPN, and WAN technologies
- Firewall platforms and network segmentation strategies
- Proven experience designing and supporting multi-site enterprise networks and hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience with high availability, redundancy, and performance engineering strategies.
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring, observability, and performance analytics tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex cross-layer infrastructure issues.
- Ability to create and maintain clear architecture documentation and engineering standards.
Preferred Experience
- Professional or expert-level networking certifications such as JNCIP, JNCIE, or similar advanced networking credentials.
- Experience working with cloud networking architectures.
- Familiarity with virtualization, SD-WAN, and software-defined networking technologies.
- Background supporting large-scale enterprise or multi-site infrastructure environments.
- Experience collaborating with security, cloud, and infrastructure architecture teams on enterprise initiatives.
