Engineering Technician

Position Description (Principle Duties and Responsibilities)

Supports and assists in the design, development, production, testing, operation and maintenance of components and equipment. Prepares detailed drawings and layouts and conduct materials testing. Performs equipment maintenance, calibration, mechanical and electrical repairs, adjustments and monitoring of products under development. Experienced with complex instruments, testing equipment and gauges. May test models, write reports, identify problems and suggest solutions.

• Ability to analyze machinery failures and implement appropriate resolutions. 
• Ability to read and interpret semi-complicated mechanical drawings. 
• Ability to work independent of routine supervision & establish work prioritization. 
• Ability to interpret and implement non-complicated instructions, both verbal and written. 
• Ability to conduct intermediate arithmetic calculations. Ability to demonstrate basic problem solving skills. 
• Effective bi-directional communication skills by interfacing with technical & non-technical staff. 
• Assist engineers with tooling and fixture design including the drafting in CAD software (Solidworks preferred). 
• Assist engineers and other technicians with qualification, verification, and validation activities as required.
• Conduct troubleshooting and resolution of routine manufacturing problems. 
• Conduct repairs and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment, machinery, and fixturing, being responsible for accurate documentation of efforts. 
• Maintain documentation as required. 
• Key technical interface with Manufacturing Engineering to identify and implement improvements (e.g., yields, processes, and productivity) in order to meet production goals. 
• Assist engineers in inventing/creating concepts and designs/approaches for new processes, test methods and tooling. 
• Assist with design and coordination of basic engineering tests and experiments. 
• Summarize and analyze, test results. Assist with preparing standard reports/documentation to communicate results to the technical community. 
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. routinely; 75 lbs. occasionally.
