Job Description
Our client, a well-established automotive manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their procurement team in Newaygo, Michigan. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a seasoned supply chain group and contribute to the sourcing of key components and raw materials essential to automotive production. Ideal candidates will bring experience in purchasing within the automotive sector, with a strong grasp of raw resins, components, and supplier relationship management.
This is not an entry-level position - we're looking for someone who can hit the ground running with a working knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and a proven background in procurement or supply chain roles.
Responsibilities:
- Source and procure raw materials and components
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on cost, quality, service, and delivery.
- Monitor market trends to anticipate material cost changes and supply chain risks.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure material specifications are met.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
- Track order status, resolve delivery issues, and ensure materials arrive on time.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and support cost-saving initiatives.
- Reports directly to the Purchasing Manager, collaborating with a small team of experienced Buyers and a Supply Chain professionals
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate effectively.
- Experience sourcing raw materials and production components.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material requirements.
- Proficient with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
