Job Description
Our client, an established manufacturer, is seeking a Customer Quality Engineer to join their team in Grand Rapids, MI. This is a direct hire opportunity for someone who's passionate about process improvement, quality systems, and data-driven problem solving in a high-paced production environment. As a Quality Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the consistency and integrity of product quality-both in existing production lines and new product introductions. You'll work cross-functionally to implement quality concepts, conduct audits, support continuous improvement efforts, and take the lead in failure analysis and documentation updates. If you're driven by root cause analysis, process optimization, and contributing to a culture of quality, this position is built for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and uphold quality concepts across both existing and new product lines
- Develop and maintain essential quality documentation, including control plans, PFMEAs, process flow charts, and work instructions
- Collaborate with production teams to support ongoing quality improvements and ensure process compliance
- Lead and document failure analyses in response to customer rejections or internal quality issues
- Perform data analysis to identify trends and support process optimization
- Elevate quality concerns and potential risks to leadership
- Plan, execute, and report on internal quality audits
- Support tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager and in alignment with global quality standards
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field preferred
- 2?3 years of experience in quality assurance/control, preferably in the automotive manufacturing sector
- Familiarity with core quality tools: Control Plans, FMEA, Process Flows, 8D, Root Cause Analysis
- Ability to manage customer and supplier claims independently
- Experience supporting production quality on the floor and working cross-functionally
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferences
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
- Prior experience working with ISO/TS or IATF quality standards
- Knowledge of audit planning and execution
- Familiarity with ViFlow or similar global quality system tools
