Job Description

Our client, a leading global manufacturer, is seeking a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Engineer to join their dynamic operations team on a contract or contract-to-hire basis. This role is ideal for professionals ranging from Associate to Senior level who are passionate about driving process improvement, supporting new product introductions, and enhancing manufacturing efficiency on the production floor. You'll serve as a technical expert, providing both strategic and hands-on engineering support through the full manufacturing life cycle.
As part of a highly collaborative operations environment, you'll play a key role in reducing production inefficiencies, enhancing product quality, and integrating advanced technologies into daily operations-all while maintaining a strong focus on safety, ergonomics, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the introduction of new products and processes into manufacturing.
  • Drive productivity and cost improvements by evaluating and refining manufacturing methods.
  • Support floor operations by troubleshooting product and process issues and implementing timely solutions.
  • Lead special projects involving the deployment of new equipment, systems, or process technologies.
  • Conduct research and feasibility analysis for new manufacturing strategies, tools, and automation systems.
  • Collaborate across departments to improve material flow, equipment reliability, and setup reduction.
  • Track project expenditures and ensure alignment with budgets.
  • Identify and eliminate ergonomic risks to support employee safety and wellbeing.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience in manufacturing engineering or process improvement roles.
  • Proficiency in process analysis, cost-benefit evaluation, and productivity optimization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to support high-volume production environments.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced Excel and/or Access use.
  • Experience in specifying, selecting, and implementing manufacturing equipment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in ergonomic analysis and human factors engineering.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools, value stream mapping, and process modeling.
  • Project management and leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of productivity improvement tools such as Rapid Continuous Improvement (RCI).
  • Understanding of material handling systems and equipment reliability programs.
  • Financial and strategic planning experience within a manufacturing setting.
