Plant Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is seeking a driven and technically skilled Plant Engineer to join their dynamic operations team. This individual will play a pivotal role in supporting Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance functions, while directly leading the plant's Maintenance group. Reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing, this position is deeply embedded in the plant's critical day-to-day operations and strategic development.
The Plant Engineer will serve as a hands-on problem-solver and technical leader, tasked with improving equipment reliability, driving process improvements, and facilitating seamless collaboration across departments. This role offers a clear leadership development path within the broader Manufacturing organization, ideal for someone with the ambition to grow into higher-impact roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the plant's Maintenance team, including technicians, scheduling, preventive maintenance programs, and emergency repair response.
- Provide technical engineering support to the Manufacturing and Quality departments to resolve production issues and enhance product quality.
- Lead and execute plant improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, enhancing efficiency, and optimizing equipment performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes of operational challenges and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Serve as a key contributor to capital project planning, equipment upgrades, and process redesign.
- Track and report on maintenance metrics, reliability KPIs, and continuous improvement outcomes.
- Support safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance in all engineering and maintenance activities.
- Mentor maintenance personnel and assist in developing technical training programs for shop-floor teams.
- Participate in long-term operational planning alongside plant leadership and executive stakeholders.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial operations environment.
- Proven leadership of maintenance or technical teams within a plant setting.
- Strong understanding of industrial equipment, control systems, and reliability engineering practices.
- Experience applying lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with safety and environmental standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
Permanent placed employees
Paid by and qualify for benefits in accordance with the policies of the hiring company.
