Controls Engineer
Job Description
Our machine building client in the Greater Grand Rapids, MI area is seeking a strong Controls Engineer for direct hire.
This position will involve:
- Work with sales engineers to provide input with quote preparation as required.
- Interface with Project Engineers and customers in design reviews to establish control options and requirements.
- Interpret mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements e.g. NX
- Develop electrical design, schematics, and drawings in CAD
- Research supplier products for most efficient/cost-effective components
- Develop electrical bill of materials.
- Troubleshoot issues with existing company installed systems
- Understand client requirements for HMI/communication interface, networking and create specifications based on these requirements
- Troubleshoot issues with existing company installed systems
- Write user manuals to communicate the functionality of company developed programs and schematics
- Design to a blend of customer and CGAF standards
- Must be willing and able to travel and work at customer sites.
- Ensure quality standards are maintained in a highly regulated, process-driven environment.
- Help train/orient/bring up to speed new employees
- Follow procedures written in our Quality Systems Manual.
Job Requirements
- Experienced position: 8+ years relevant experience or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Certifications as necessary
- PLC Programming experience, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Etc.
- Maple Systems, Allen Bradley, Schneider Electric, HMI Programming experience. Proficient in AutoCAD electrical 2015 software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Publisher. Familiar with UL 508A electrical standards.
- Willing to pull wire and wire control systems to machinery.
- Fanuc, ABB, Motoman robot experience.
- Vision Systems, Keyence, Cognex, Teledyne Dalsa.
Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
Permanent placed employees
Paid by and qualify for benefits in accordance with the policies of the hiring company.
