Our client, a manufacturing company in the Spring Lake, MI area is currently looking for a Controller.
The Controller provides both operational and programmatic support to the organization. The Controller supervises the day to day accounting operations and is the lead financial spokesperson for the organization. The Controller handles all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budgets, product cost, financial forecasts, funding sources and cash management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve organizational mission and help executive staff execute profit and growth goals.
Train Finance team and other staff on financial management matters.
Provide accurate and timely fiscal reporting. Develop processes that result in an effective and timely close process and year-end financial packages.
Develop and maintain systems of internal control that safeguard the financial assets of the organization.
Monitor banking and investing activities of the organization.
Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the needs of the organization.
Serve as lead trustee and oversee administration and financial reporting of the organization s Savings and Retirement plan.
Participate in the selection and maintenance of employee benefit plans.
Assist in the design and implementation of wage plans, hourly incentive programs, sales commission plans, staff salaries and salaried staff bonus plans.
Provide monthly reporting packages for executive staff.
Manage and report on accounts payable and receivable.
Identify and ensure proper business insurance plans are in place.
Take a lead role in maintaining inventories and fixed assets.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting and internal control practices.
Tax, wage and benefit planning and administration.
Create and assess financial statements and budget documents.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of and experience with ERP systems.
Ability to lead and mentor.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
5 to 7 years of progressive experience in managing day-to-day financial operations in a MANUFACTURING environment
Responsibility creating monthly and annual management financial reports.
Proven mentoring and team building skill set.
Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting or Finance.
