Controller

We are looking for a Controller to join our client's Corporate Finance Team and support the day-to-day management of accounting and finance functions, including preparing all financial reports, federal and state compliance and tax reporting, operating budgets, and internal accounting controls. This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborate to develop and implement long-term financial goals. This Controller will serve as the Finance business partner to the management team.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to the preparation of federal, state, and local reports and tax returns. 
• Prepares supporting documents for the annual financial reports and annual tax return with outside CPA firm. 
• Prepares documents supporting the monthly close process and month-end balances. 
• Reviews the monthly accounting close process, including analytical review of the monthly operating results, ensuring accurate accounting records are maintained. 
• Supervises the maintenance of fixed asset records. 
• Oversees the physical inventory process for various locations. 
• Manages and develops direct reports. 
• Assists in the preparation of the annual budget. 
• Assists in maintaining records for retirement accounts (i.e., 401-K Plan).

Ideal Background

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 5 years of experience as a Financial Manager 
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience. 
• Ability to communicate recommendations in a concise and timely manner to all levels of the organization. 
• Strong GAAP and financial reporting skills. 
• CPA or similar designation is a nice to have but not required
• Previous experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment. 
• Previous experience with sales tax reporting. 
• Knowledge of specialized accounting software such as Sage Fixed Assets software and Microsoft Dynamics General Ledger software.
