Construction / Utility Permit Coordinator
Job Description
Our Client, a Public Utility that provides natural gas and electricity to the majority of Michigan's 10 million residents is seeking a talented and self-driven individual for needs serving in the role of Utility Permit Coordinator.
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Permit Coordinator to support a local utility in Jackson, Michigan. This hybrid role plays a critical part in ensuring timely and accurate tracking of permit requirements across multiple teams. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with a knack for detail and a drive to keep projects moving forward.
HYBRID - Onsite - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
Remote - Wednesday and Friday
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with Real Estate and Environmental teams to track and manage permit requirements
- Communicate permit timelines and obligations to Engineering and Construction teams
- Maintain and update tracking tools and spreadsheets to monitor permit status and deadlines
- Proactively follow up with internal and external stakeholders to ensure permit schedules are met
- Identify and escalate potential delays or issues in the permitting process
- Serve as a central point of contact for permit-related inquiries and updates
- Support documentation and reporting needs related to permitting activities
Job Requirements
SKILLS:
- Collaborative team setting with cross-functional interaction
- No certifications or licenses required
- Strong communication skills-written and verbal
- Familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel or similar tools) and tracking systems
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable 'chasing down' requirements and coordinating across departments
- 3-5 years experience and deep understanding of Construction, Engineering and Utility Permit Coordination
- Associates Degree or higher level education.
Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
Permanent placed employees
Paid by and qualify for benefits in accordance with the policies of the hiring company.
