Job Description
Our manufacturing client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Commodity Buyer to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in developing a qualified, low-cost supply base to support current and future automotive program sourcing requirements. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supplier selection, participate in strategic development, and drive cost savings efforts. Responsibilities:
- Develop a qualified, low-cost supply base to meet current and anticipated automotive program sourcing needs.
- Rationalize and provide support for supplier selection processes.
- Lead or participate in strategy development teams focused on cost savings, minority business strategies, and related reporting.
- Support the Launch team in Supplier Selection, Statement of Work Negotiation, and Make vs. Buy analysis.
- Assist the Production team in addressing quality issues with components from the supply base.
- Coordinate volume discounts and planned productivity discounts with the supply base.
- Fulfill additional duties as required to support the team and projects.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in purchasing, particularly with chemicals and plastics.
- Knowledge of the automotive industry preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to travel up to 10% (though travel is minimal).

- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
- Experience in working with diverse teams and managing multiple projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cost-saving initiatives.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
