CNC Machinist Lead – Live Tooling | Statesboro, GA
Are you a skilled CNC professional looking to lead a team in a precision-driven, fast-paced manufacturing environment? Our client, a respected firearms manufacturer, is seeking a CNC Machinist Lead with live tooling experience to oversee day-to-day machining operations and mentor a team of machinists at their Statesboro, GA facility.
This role is perfect for a hands-on leader who's comfortable in high-tolerance production environments, particularly with multi-axis CNC lathes and mills. You'll take the lead on setups, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and ensuring high standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee a team of CNC machinists on daily production operations
- Set up and operate CNC lathes/mills with live tooling (including multi-axis machines)
- Program edits and offsets to ensure parts meet exact specifications
- Monitor production schedules and machine utilization for efficiency
- Ensure adherence to quality control standards, perform in-process inspections
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve tooling or equipment issues
- Train and mentor junior machinists on best practices, safety protocols, and technical skills
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across machining processes
- Maintain clean and organized workstations following 5S principles
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role
- Hands-on experience with live tooling on CNC lathes and mills
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
- Proficient in performing setups, offsets, and quality checks with precision instruments
- Experience with tight tolerance machining, preferably in metal components
- Working knowledge of G-code and M-code programming/editing
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in firearms, aerospace, or defense manufacturing industries
- Familiarity with Mastercam or similar CAM software
- OSHA or Lean Manufacturing certifications
- Associate's degree or technical training in machining/manufacturing
- Experience with ERP systems and production tracking tools
