CAD Design Engineer
Job Description
Our manufacturing client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Design Engineer for a 6+ month contract opportunity supporting mechanical design initiatives in the defense industry. This role will focus heavily on the creation of detailed 2D and 3D models for complex mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, and power pack control systems for military ground vehicles. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with Pro-E and Creo, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, suppliers, and project stakeholders to develop precision designs and support product integration from concept through production. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and revision of 2D and 3D CAD drawings for mechanical systems using Creo and Pro-E.
- Support the design and development of mechanical, electromechanical, and pneumatic control systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure technical feasibility and design accuracy.
- Review and revise models based on design feedback, engineering updates, and manufacturing needs.
- Support the integration of subsystems including engines, transmissions, and power packs into military vehicles.
- Assist in the development of design specifications and performance documents for internal use and suppliers.
- Participate in presenting designs to internal stakeholders and government representatives.
- Provide guidance on modeling and drawing standards to ensure consistency and best practices.
Job Requirements
- Strong proficiency with Creo 7.0 and PTC Windchill 12.0.
- Proven experience with electro-mechanical design, ideally in complex or regulated industries.
- Solid understanding and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with customers, vendors, and government representatives.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically to suppliers and vendors as needed.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance; prior clearance preferred.
- Capable of working within a manufacturing environment, including physical mobility as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience with MBE/MBD (Model-Based Engineering/Design) methodologies.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 2020, including Raster Design Toolset.
- Prior experience in defense-related product development or military vehicle integration.

Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
