Position: Buyer
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Negotiate for the best pricing and ensure that materials and products meet contract specifications.
  • Adhere to our clients procurement standards throughout the order process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Understand the requirements of both domestic and international contracts.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in U.S. Department of Defense procurements and requirements for subcontractors on such programs.
  • Manage purchase orders, ensuring they comply with the requirements of the prime contracts.
  • Monitor payment timeliness to suppliers and the completion of products.
  • Manage Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes.
  • Maintain a database of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Establish and maintain a supplier rating system.
  • Conduct supplier vetting and due diligence.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance and communicate updates to Program Teams.
  • Support logistics with freight details and scheduled shipping.
  • Communicate order status.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience with U.S. DoD Contracting and/or Subcontracting.
  • At least 2 years of experience with international subcontracting and interaction with international manufacturers.
  • Experience and competency with technical documentation required for DoD subcontracts for defense items.
  • Experience enforcing inspection, testing, and acceptance requirements on U.S. DoD subcontractors.
  • Experience identifying and implementing prime contract requirements into subcontracts (both foreign and domestic).
  • Experience negotiating the terms and conditions of subcontracts (Certification preferred).
  • Strong multitasking skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Prior firearm and defense industry experience preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.
  • ISO 9001:2015 training preferred.
