Job Description
Assistant Vice President of Legal & Compliance
Our client is seeking an accomplished and detail-oriented Assistant Vice President of Legal & Compliance to support the Vice President in leading the Legal & Compliance Department. This key role involves supervising the compliance team, managing risk, and ensuring adherence to regulations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the Compliance team within the Legal Department, including oversight of the Director of Compliance and their team.
- Manage internal and external compliance audits and State Regulatory Reports.
- Assist the business in implementing new and applicable rules and regulations.
- Liaise with state regulators for market conduct exams and complaints.
- Lead and manage the resolution of customer complaints, mentoring compliance team members through the process.
- Conduct specific compliance audits internally and with MGAs, TPAs, and vendors, mentoring team members through the audit process.
- Stay abreast of changing laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
- Develop and oversee an enterprise-wide privacy program, including SOP development, communication, and training on privacy and data security.
- Act as the incident response coordinator for privacy or cybersecurity issues.
- Lead the corporate risk management committee in identifying and managing potential business and financial risks.
- Keep the VP of Legal and key stakeholders updated on corporate litigation and significant risk management issues.
- Serve as the second in command, attending executive committee and other stakeholder meetings in the VP of Legal's absence.
- Supervise, coach, and mentor corporate counsel and legal and compliance staff.
- Perform other duties as required.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience as an attorney in the Property and Casualty industry.
- Strong interpersonal, managerial, and diplomacy skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Admitted to the State Bar.
