Assistant Materials Manager
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Newaygo, MI is seeking an Assistant Materials Manager to oversee inventory management, material procurement, production planning, and warehouse operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring on-time shipments, optimizing inventory levels, and improving cost, quality, and delivery efficiencies. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee production planning activities to support the timely and cost-effective launch of new products.
- Lead and monitor inventory levels, raw material procurement, and warehousing/shipping operations to ensure timely delivery.
- Assist in developing departmental plans, budgets, and master production schedules using sales forecasts, customer demand, and capacity planning.
- Ensure compliance with company, customer, and Materials Department requirements while setting strategic direction for future improvements.
- Supervise and provide strategic guidance to a team of professional and leadership staff.
- Champion process improvements and projects to enhance cost efficiency, product quality, and delivery performance.
- Establish and manage inventory turn goals while minimizing obsolete inventory and recommending appropriate disposition.
- Support safety, quality, and productivity initiatives, conducting workplace inspections to maintain compliance with health and environmental policies.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in materials management, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
- 2+ years of supervisory/managerial experience, including financial/budget responsibility and strategic decision-making.
- 3+ years of automotive manufacturing experience

Contract positions
Will be employed and paid hourly by iMPact Business Group. Benefits (medical, dental & vision) are available after 90 days of employment.
